Responsible for providing the day to day needs of vehicle maintenance; ensuring the availability of vehicles in safe operating conditions includes determining and making needed repairs and/or providing information on vehicle replacements.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Perform regular preventive maintenance and major repairs on vehicles and ensure fleet availability is in safe operating condition making repairs as needed.
Detect faulty operations, defective material and repair or make arrangements for outside repair if necessary.
Comply with D.O.T., MSHA and OSHA safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Communicate daily with Service Manager to ensure fleet availability.
Research and prepare reports to senior management on trends in fleet maintenance and needs for any vehicle replacements.
Maintain manual and electronic documents, files and records (bulk fuel, parts inventory, repair orders) for the purpose of providing service documentation and audits.
Perform annual vehicle inspections in accordance with D.O.T. standards
Assist with shop cleaning and shop tasks as necessary and directed by Service Manager.
Diagnose problems and make repairs in the shop and field.
Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
Prepare and maintain records and reports.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Requires a high school diploma/GED
6+ years of mechanical experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills
Master Diesel Technician
Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
Valid CDL Driver’s License
Clean Driving Record
MSHA Certification preferred
Welding experience preferred
